The City will be completing reconstruction on West Green Street between Eagle Street and Jefferson Street as part of the first improvements to the Activation Zone area. Construction on this project includes new sidewalk, angled on-street parking, improved pedestrian crossings, and completely new street surface. During construction the street will be completely closed to vehicular and pedestrian traffic. The project is expected to last 6 weeks.
The City of Marshall was awarded a Michigan Economic Development Corporation (MEDC) Revitalization and Placemaking Grant (RAP) for this project. The grant required matching funds which are being provided by the Downtown Development Authority, the Local Street Millage Fund, and a grant from the Cronin Foundation. The project budget is $1.3 million with half covered by the RAP grant and half providing in matching funds by the City. The Green Street Reconstruction portion of the project, planned for 2023, is estimated at $610,000.
